The court clarified that doctors must use good faith medical judgment in abortion decisions and distinguishes between abortions and necessary medical procedures like removing ectopic or molar pregnancies. Notably, the court's decision confirmed compliance with federal statutes, including the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA).
