Merry Christmas from the Idaho Freedom Caucus
Why do we talk so much about freedom? Why do we fight so hard to pass good bills and stop bad ones? Why do we spend our days and nights in politics? What’s so special about freedom, anyway?
Christmastime is about many things, but perhaps the most important is hope. Christians celebrate the day hope came into the world in the form of a newborn baby — both the Son of Man and the Son of God. That baby, the Lord Jesus Christ, would bridge the divide between humanity and God.
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36
We believe God made us to be free — not to live under the yoke of kings, tyrants, dictators, or oligarchs. Our ancestors came to the New World seeking freedom: freedom from tyranny, freedom to live, and freedom to worship according to their conscience. Their hope for a better life is our promise to keep.
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1
It is our privilege and responsibility to continue striving for that same freedom today.
In the spirit of that God-given freedom, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Enjoy this season of celebration with your families, and we look forward to seeing you in 2025!
