This week, the poorly written H613 was killed on the Senate Floor. Thanks to the efforts of Senator Scott Herndon, a better bill has been written and will be presented in Senate State Affairs on Monday.
The bill states that advertising or promoting marijuana or abortion-related products or services through billboards, signs, newspapers, magazines, pamphlets, or other printed materials in Idaho will be prohibited. Violators will face misdemeanor charges.
The failure of H613 underscores the challenges of crafting effective laws. Sometimes, in an effort to "do something," mistakes are made. It's better to get it right than to pass a flawed bill.
