Woke But Not Awake
My brief thoughts after the Trump assassination attempt...Guest opinion by Senator Brian Lenney, Vice Chair Idaho Freedom Caucus
The Left is woke, not AWAKE...
But yesterday's assassination attempt on President Trump cracked eyes wide open, shifting folks from the woke virtue signaling camp straight into reality.
That's the mess we've been wading through since around 2008—a stark refusal to live in the real world, to trust actual science, or to anchor ourselves in traditional family values, gender norms, and God.
Because REALITY declares the biggest threat to Western Civilization isn't "white supremacy"; it's wokeism—the stubborn refusal to face reality for what it truly is.
REALITY tells us that men, women, boys, and girls are biologically and spiritually fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God, and any attempt to alter that through physical modification is yielding to a spiritual falsehood. It simply isn't real.
And lastly, REALITY says that skin color doesn't shape, sway, or dictate ideology; culture does.
The inputs to your mind matter.
The voices you heed matter.
What you immerse yourself in and give yourself over to… MATTERS.
But you know this.
The Apostle Paul knew it well too, warning us thousands of years ago as he wrote to the Christians in Rome:
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
For this reason God gave them up to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged natural relations for those that are contrary to nature; and the men likewise gave up natural relations with women and were consumed with passion for one another, men committing shameless acts with men and receiving in themselves the due penalty for their error.
And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind to do what ought not to be done. They were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless. Though they know God’s righteous decree that those who practice such things deserve to die, they not only do them but give approval to those who practice them.”

So, choose wisely who you listen to...
Be discerning about who and what you lend your ear to.
Because the guy who tried to assassinate Trump was tuned into the wrong frequencies. From what I've observed, he was woke, but clearly not AWAKE.
He swallowed the lies.
He bought into the hype.
And it turned him into a monster.
But for the grace of God, we could all go astray.
So, let us seek truth with humility and compassion, guided by wisdom and discernment.

Well said! I have lost friends and moved acorss the country to live among people who still recognize reality, sanity, common sense, and common decency. It was a great move and I am grateful to be an Idahoan. Thank you for your hard work to keep it reality-based and principled.
You'll need to change it to the "alleged shooter". The several people who qualified he was the shooter otherwise have inconsistencies in their statements even during giving their statements.
One "witness" during news interview, "He was on the roof for 2 to 3 minutes and I kept pointing him out"... then later in the interview "yeah, he was up on the roof for 3 to 4 minutes and I was pointing him out..."
