Senator Scott may indeed be the candidate for majority leader most aligned with President Trumps positions on the issues. The Senators record on the 2nd Amendment however concerns me. One of the major differences between Republicans and Democrats is the 2nd Amendment. The people's right to bear arms brings many people to the polls and many dollars to campaigns. John Cornyn is the worst possible choice, in my humble opinion. He campaigned as a gun rights supporter then sold out to Mitch McConnell and helped the Democrats pass more anti-gun legislation. He lacks the integrity to be a sitting Senator let alone the majority leader.

You definitely have some legitimate concerns. But there's also the more recent article "Sens. Rick Scott, Mike Braun & Colleagues Introduce Bill to Stop Biden From Using Public Health Emergency to Attack 2A Rights" https://www.rickscott.senate.gov/2023/9/sens-rick-scott-mike-braun-colleagues-introduce-bill-to-stop-biden-from-using-public-health-emergency-to-attack-2a-rights

So, maybe Sen Scott is rethinking his positions? Everyone would need to research each candidate. All probably have flaws. Unfortunately, this vote is coming up so soon, we must try for the least of the evils, since someone will be replacing McConnell. Many would prefer that replacement not to be McConnell loyalists.

Thanks for the info. I agree, there is no such thing as a perfect candidate. As long as they support the Constitution, and then the President, (Trump) I can live with it. I think it would be unfortunate for a few RINOS to squander the opportunity we have to course correct.

💯🎯 AGREE!!!!!!

Plus, we all live, learn, and change our opinions as we live and learn. The important thing is to keep our eyes on the prize, which is the freedom promised by our Founding Documents, a strong moral compass, and the Golden Rule.

I emailed both and got this response back from Jim Risch…we’ll see how it goes.

Dear Mr. Cooprider:

Thank you for taking the time to contact me regarding the upcoming Senate Republican leadership election. I appreciate hearing from you.

Under President Trump, Republicans have taken back the White House, Senate, and House of Representatives. On November 13, Senate Republicans will hold an election for a new Majority Leader. I will listen to the debate and vote for the candidate best positioned to achieve President Trump's agenda and defend Idaho's conservative values.

Whomever the Republican caucus selects, we have a daunting job in the Senate over the next four years. There will be significant pushback to President Trump's agenda and we must all work together to overcome that. Our forefathers worked tirelessly to make the United States of America the greatest country in the world. As your Republican senator, I support the restoration of a government that is strictly limited to the authorities granted to it in the Constitution. I believe all human life should be protected, including the unborn. I support the constitutional freedoms Americans experience, including the freedom of religion, the right to free speech, and the right to bear arms.

Again, I value your effort to get in touch with me to share your thoughts, as many Idahoans do. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future on this or other issues.

Very Truly Yours

James E. Risch

United States Senator

Let me add that calling 202-224-3121 didn’t work for me. I told both in my emails I hope they vote for Scott.

Action alert appreciated, but mailboxes are full, including the phone extension line for both Senators, after making multiple attempts. I will email even though I have little faith it is read. And a secret vote should not be, we the people are entitled to know.

FYI just in! On the Benny Johnson podcast, he just released a leaked list of how all the senators will be voting in the "Secret" ballot. Rick Scott is dead last. Dorothy Moon and the Idaho GOP have endorsed Rick Scott as have numerous real conservatives like Rand Paul, Ron Johnson etc. The just released leaked list shows our two RINO Senators Risch and Crapo are voting for Cornyn who is anti Trump. So this means our two senators are voting against the will of our state GOP. Notify everyone you know about this and call the Boise office of these Senators and let them know that we now know who they will be voting for. If you have Dorothy Moon's ph # call her and have her call these crummy Senators that I will not vote for again. Also let KIDO know about this so they can get the message out.
